Building on the Past Successes and Innovating for the Future

The mission of Stamford Public Schools (SPS) is to provide an education that cultivates productive habits of mind, body and heart in every student.

Key Areas for Growth

Academics, Attendance, Healthy Lifestyle Choices, Social Emotional Learning, and Service Learning.

Since launching our 2017-22 strategic plan, we have built on a strong foundation and expanded our scope of focus beyond academics. Over the past 5 years, we have successfully shifted our approach and strategy to improve student learning in all dimensions of mind, body and heart. Our successes are the result of significant collaboration among our community, staff, students and families. While the COVID-19 pandemic and its lasting impact has tested us as a community, I am proud that SPS stayed the course by focusing on our students.

Last Spring, in preparation for the next phase of our strategic plan, we reviewed the 2017 SPS Strategic Plan with the greater Stamford community, including teachers, administrators, and support staff, and parent groups, community groups, and elected officials. Throughout, we reviewed the strategic goals adopted in Fall 2017, and assessed the impact the pandemic had on our plan implementation.  What we learned through our collective experience is that we have made great strides in recent years, and much of our plan remains on target.  We also learned that there are many areas of opportunity to grow and improve.

We are thrilled to share insight into the SPS District Strategic Plan for 2022-2027.   Our approach is ambitious but attainable through collaborative planning, realistic targets and thoughtful budgeting.  I am proud of how our community came together to successfully implement many aspects of our 2017-2022 plan, and look forward to Building on the Past Successes and Innovating for the Future!
